Congratulations to the scholarship winners!
OUTSTANDING STUDENT RECEIVES COEFI SCHOLARSHIP
The Pi Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
and the Derby City Tea Rose Foundation awarded $7,000 in annual
scholarships at this year's Derby City Men Who Cook extravaganza
held on June 21, 2008. In support of that effort, COEFI donated
a $500 scholarship to Ms. Kristen Hamilton, a graduate
of Dupont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Ms. Hamilton
is a student at the University of Kentucky.

MOORE NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

Ms. Rebecca Sanborni, 2008 Winner of the Frances L. Moore Nursing
Scholarship
The Frances L. Moore Nursing Scholarship was created to help a
nursing student who has a strong passion and commitment to a career
in nursing, achieve his or her goal. All of the 2008 applicants
were outstanding and demonstrated qualities that will serve them
well in their professional nursing careers. Scholarship applicants
are judged yearly based on their financial need, cumulative grade
point average, extra curriculum activities, demonstration of leadership
potential, community service, professional association membership,
work experience, accompanying personal statement, and letters of
recommendation.
With that said, it is our pleasure to announce Rebecca Sanborn
as
the winner of the Frances L. Moore Nursing Scholarship for the 2008-2009
academic year

ALMA L. MAYFIELD SCHOLARSHIP

Mr.Sayed Shah (left), the 2008 Alma L. Mayfield Scholarship winner.
Mr. Shah is a graduate of T.C. Williams High School and will attend
Northern Virginia Community College. Ms. Janelle Dixon (right),
a graduate of George Washington University in Washington D.C., presented
the award.
The Alma L. Mayfield Scholarship is for one academic year and will
be awarded to a student who has demonstrated community service and
a genuine interest in obtaining a college education in any field
of study. The recipient is selected by the Scholarship
Fund of Alexandria (SFA) on the basis of current academic standing
and financial need.
